Anonymous said: It's upsetting when my group of friends say there are no societal pressures put on men. We're told we must make a ton of money(I dont), have a huge dick, make a woman orgasm in 10 seconds flat, if you're fat you'd better be funny, bald=unfuckable, etc. I'm 27, newly bald, rapidly gaining weight(vegan compulsive eater), and due to trauma I have a case of Peyronie's disease(severe curvature of penis making it nearly impossible to achieve/maintain an erection, not to mention blindingly painful).
[cont] Follow up: I’m not trying to compare and say that one gender has it worse off, it’s just frustrating and upsetting to be told that my feelings don’t count for shit since I’m a straight white cis male. How do I try to get my point across without being the asshole?
Jesus. You’ve got a lot going on.
Your question isn’t insensitive and you explained your concerns in a reasonable way. If you do the same in another conversation, and that causes the room to turn on you, either,
- It wasn’t the right time
- Right or wrong, people are caught up in their shit and wouldn’t have been willing to listen regardless of how you presented your point
Some people are never gonna hear you. Just get used to that and try not to be bitter about it. You’re not gonna get any sympathy until women are out from under the boot.
Is that fair? No. You’re an individual and reducing you to your gender or race for the purpose of dismissing you is intolerably wrong. But, people only have so much energy to care about shit, so there’s some necessary prioritizing going on.
You’re probably gonna have to wait until the world has stopped shitting on everyone else.
At our current pace, give it 300 years.
Pat has it right
